Hygienic treatment - Supragingival scaling

The supragingival scaling consists of professional cleaning the teeth which means removal of hard dental deposits (tartar) that gather on the surface of tooth crowns, with help of ultrasonic devices, so called scalers.

At Indexmedica clinic, we use scalers that allow us effective and quick cleaning of the teeth surface and at the same time they are completely safe for the patient.

Scaling is usually painless, only in case of inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth discomfort can occur - in this case, a local anesthetic is administered.

At the end of each scaling procedure follows polishing of all cleaned surfaces. This prevents re-accumulation of plaque and provides the patient a pleasant feeling of smooth teeth. After professional teeth cleaning it is advisable to use  fluoride varnishes which help to protect teeth against decay and oversensitivity.

Teeth sandblasting

Sandblasting is a treatment of sludge removal and discoloratons of tooth crowns being the result of smoking or drinking coffee and tea. To perform the sandblasting are used air-powder devices which, after mixed very fine powder with air throw under high pressure a thin stream of the mixture on the surface of the tooth, effectively eliminating deposits and discolorations that you can not get rid of by using just a toothbrush.

Fissure sealing.

Fissure sealing is an effective cleaning of fissures in teeth and then filling them with a special material - sealant. The grooves and slots are places of food debris residual and then the growth of bacteria. Complicated furrows shapes make their proper cleaning with a toothbrush difficult or even impossible, which favors the development of caries. Sealing of both milk and permanent teeth is intended to protect them from dental decay.

Sealing treatment should be carried out as soon as possible after teething, but only if the tooth is big enough to be isolated from the access of saliva. Sealing is performed first of all on healthy permanent molars and premolars, as well as milk molars. So called blind holes are also sealed.

This is an excellent way to prevent tooth decay - simple, painless and effective - it allows to achieve approximately 90% reduction in tooth decay. We recommend this type of treatment for our  small patients.

Dental plaque.

Plaque is a strongly fitted, soft sediment, of colour from white to yellowish, which remains on the surface of the teeth. Dental plaque can only be removed mechanically with using a toothbrush, dental floss and other hygienic procedures.

It consists of elements derived from the human (components of saliva, food particles, dead cells) and from a variety of bacteria. After some time the unremoved plaque becomes tartar due to oversaturation with mineral compounds contained in the saliva and can no longer be removed by domestic methods of oral hygiene.
